the history
A historical home for you
Blending beautifully with the city’s Venetian architecture, this 1823 aristocratic townhouse has been lovingly restored by the descendants of its original owner, Loukas Metaxas –a Corfiot entrepreneur who lived there with his family since the early 1900s. In 1988 the building became listed in recognition of its considerable architectural and historical merit. Then it was the turn of the new generation:
After years of experiencing the boutique hotel scene of London and New York, Metaxas’ heirs set out to convert their ancestral family home into a hospitality establishment worthy of its name. And in this quest, they enlisted the help of renowned Greek architect Vaggelis Stylianidis.
Christened after their beloved grandmother –a 1901 born contessa who spoke five languages and was a piano virtuoso- the Siora Vittoria was inaugurated in 2005 as the first boutique hotel in Corfu -in fact, the Ionian islands.
